Boston Terrier Dogs

In the same way as the bulldog has come to represent Britain, so the Boston terrier has become known as the national dog of America. The Boston terrier is the result of bulldog and certain terrier cross-breeding. Almost certainly this breed was originally a bigger dog than those seen today, because careful breeding by American breeders has produced a smart, clean-cut, alert, and intelligent dog of compact size.

His coat is smooth and fine, and should possess a satin-like sheen. The head is square and clean, with no sign of 'cheekiness'. The nose should be short and flat with deep stop, rising to the skull. Small ears, thin and erect, are carried high on the skull. Dark eyes, large and round, are full of expression and intelligence. The short coupled body has well-sprung ribs, legs straight and strong with round bone and neat feet. Colors are various shades of brindle with evenly distributed white markings, white blaze, white collar and chest, and white socks. Weights are from 15 lb and should not exceed 20 lb.
